B17, or amygdalin, is a naturally occurring compound with a rich history in cancer treatment. It was first utilized successfully in Russia in 1845 and was later used by Dr. Ernst Krebs, Dr. Richardson, and multiple other healers. Amygdalin is commonly found in apricot seeds, apple seeds, plum seeds, and cherry seeds, and more, as well as in certain nuts such as bitter almonds and some plants. It’s the main component of Laetrile therapy — an alternative cancer treatment that has garnered attention for its healing benefits.
Some benefits of B-17 are as follows. B-17 can boost the immune system, by increasing white blood cell count. B-17 strengthens the body’s defenses against infections, bacteria, and even cancer cells. B-17 helps empower healthy cells to fight against diseases. B17 may help regulate hypertension by lowering blood pressure. B-17 can significantly reduce both systolic and diastolic blood pressure, offering a natural way to ease the stress on the heart and extend life. B-17 has anti-inflammatory properties that can make it an effective pain reliever. Cancer patients undergoing laetrile therapy have reported improvements in their symptoms. By alleviating pain and inflammation, B-17 offers patients the possibility to resume activities they were previously unable to engage in and enhance their quality of life.
The use of Laetrile/B-17 (1-mandelonitrile-beta-glucuronoside), a beta cyanogenic glucoside, intravenously in 10 cases of inoperable cancer, all with metastases, provided dramatic relief of pain, discontinuance of narcotics, control of fector, improved appetite, and reduction of adenopathy. The results suggest regression of the malignant lesion.
A fall of blood pressure occured in all cases after administration of Laetrile. This side effect was easily avoided by using phenylephrine hydrochloride 0.3-1 mg. in the same syrnge with the Laertile solution.
No other side effects were noted except slight itching and a sensation of heat in the affected arears, which was transitory in all cases.
Comparison of before and after hemograms showed definite improvement in the red blood cell count and hemoglobin in most cases. Differential blood counts and urinalyses were entirely negative.
Cyanide is converted to thiocyanate in the blood circulation, and in the liver by the enzyme rhodanese in the presence of sulfer-bearing compounds. The circulating thiocyanate exerts certain physiological effects on blood pressure and thyroid action, and is not excreted rapidly. (In the absence of the enzyme or sulfer, the cyanidec may form cyano-hemoglobin.) In cancer patients some thiocyanate finds its way to the site of the cancer lesion. Cyanide, either as such, or as mandelonitrile, may combine with glucose to form cyanoglucose, which also would be excreted. The conditions for this transformation exist in cancer tissue and would constitute anti-gluconeogenesis.
